Bonifay Fire Rescue hosts equipment demo, training

A few Bonifay Fire Rescue firefighters squeezed in some training Wednesday before carving the Thanksgiving turkey.

Walton County Fire Rescue was slated to receive equipment demonstration and training from Team Equipment, Inc. and used the opportunity to partner with Bonifay firefighters for a joint demonstration and training in Bonifay.

“This is a great partnership for both agencies to train and learn together,” said Lt. Travis Cook, Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) Coordinator for Walton County Fire Rescue.

Bonifay Fire Chief Larry Cook donated the use of his property and vehicles for Team Equipment, Inc. to demonstrate vehicle lifting and stabilization tools in the first segment. The second part of the day was spent at the Bonifay fire station demonstrating structural collapse stabilization tools and equipment.

Cook said hosting the demonstration in Bonifay allowed both fire agencies to participate in hands-on training with specialized tools and for Bonifay firefighters to be exposed to equipment the department may consider for future purchases.

“I look forward to coordinating more of these joint trainings,” Cook said.
