The Ponce de Leon Lady Pirates defeated the Jay High School Lady Royals 47-41 at the regional finals Feb. 14 securing a spot in the state semifinals.
The Florida High School Athletic Association girls basketball state semifinals will be held Feb. 22-24 and finals Feb. 24-25 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
The Lady Pirates will face off against the Hawthorne Hornets in the state semifinals Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. The Lady Pirates are currently 20-3 overall, and the Hornets are 13-5.
The semifinal winners in that game will then take on either the Graceville Tigers or the Wildwood Wildcats. The state championship game will be Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.
