NWS issues tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southern Holmes County, Northwestern Washington County and Central Walton County until 2:15 p.m. CDT. At 1:18 p.m. CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from seven miles northwest of Defuniak Springs to six miles northeast of Navarre Beach, moving east at 45 mph with 70 mph wind gusts.

A Tornado watch has been issued until 7 p.m. on April 5. The new watch is valid for Washington, Jackson and Bay Counties.

NWS says, “For southern portions of our forecast area in Florida the tornado watch may need to be extended east. The primary concerns with the line of storms as it moves into these areas will be damaging winds, but a few tornadoes can’t be ruled out along the line.”
