On May 31 Bonifay city crews were in the process of repairing a major water leak on N. Oklahoma. Water was shut off affecting the E. Michigan Ave, E. Minnesota Ave, E. Montana, N. Oklahoma, E. Indiana, N. Varner and N. Hubbard St. areas.
The city issued a precautionary boil water notice as a result.
“WATER USED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, MAKING ICE, BRUSHING TEETH, OR WASHING DISHES BE BOILED. A ROLLING BOIL OF ONE MINUTE IS SUFFICIENT. AS AN ALTERNATIVE BOTTLED WATER MAY BE USED,” read the notice.
“THIS ‘PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE’ WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL THE BACTERIOLOGICAL SURVEY SHOWS THAT THE WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, YOU MAY CONTACT THE CITY OF BONIFAY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AT 850-258-2514.”
