STAFF REPORT
Deputies from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, executed a search warrant at a residence on Sherwood Drive in an effort to locate wanted fugitive Rodney Broxton December 19.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Megan Ashman-Reading, who had been previously advised that Broxton was a wanted fugitive and warned that aiding him in any way would result in her arrest. Reading denied that Broxton was present in the residence.
During the execution of the search warrant, insulation was found on the floor beneath an attic access point. While retrieving an attic camera, deputies heard Broxton fall through the ceiling in an adjacent bedroom. Broxton was subsequently captured on the attic camera and surrendered without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, Megan Ashman-Reading was placed under arrest and charged with accessory after the fact for her role in attempting to conceal Broxton’s location.
Both Broxton and Reading were transported to the Holmes County Jail.
Sheriff Tate commended the teamwork and coordination between HCSO and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force that led to this successful apprehension in a press release on December 19.
