Vehicle crash leads to small fire in tractor-trailer

STAFF REPORT

At approximately 11:00 PM last night, Chief Travis Cook of Bonifay Fire and Rescue, along with Attack 1, responded to a commercial vehicle collision on Interstate 10. Upon arrival, Chief Cook established command of the scene. Fire crews assessed both tractor-trailer occupants for injuries and transferred care to EMS personnel.

While the Bonifay Police Department, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, and Holmes County EMS evaluated the incident, Firefighter Shawn Harrison identified a small flame inside one of the tractor-trailers. Fire crews promptly repositioned Attack 1 to extinguish the fire and disconnect the vehicle’s electronic control module. Bonifay Fire and Rescue cleared the scene and returned to the city around midnight.

Later, at 4:35 AM, Bonifay Fire and Rescue established a safe landing zone for AirHeart 2 at Doctors Memorial Hospital.
