Two members will be sworn onto the Esto Town Council at their Jan. 16 meeting, one a new member.
Longtime resident Maxie Yates is joining the decision-making board. He is filling Seat 4, which has been vacant after previous holder Casey Laycox had to resign in July after moving out Esto. Laycox was elected in 2022.
Incumbent Greg Wells will be sworn back into Seat 2.
Esto was going to have an election for the seats on Monday, Dec. 4, but canceled that since Wells and Yates were the only candidates who were certified by the time of an application deadline that ended Nov. 3.
Town Clerk Ben Tew announced the news at a Nov. 21 Town council meeting.
The Jan. 16 meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be held at Esto Town Hall, 3312 Second Ave. South (off Highway 79).
