The Holmes County High School Drama Department will present “SWEET/TART” written by John David Brown, on Monday, Feb. 12, and Tuesday, Feb. 13, beginning at 7 p.m. at the HCHS Auditorium.
“Looking for love can leave a sour taste in your mouth. In ‘SWEET/TART,’ a variety of characters come to understand that you can’t fully commit to someone else before you’ve learned to commit to yourself,” a news release said. “Set in a classic diner, ‘SWEET/TART’ is a funny, honest portrayal of the things we will do for love—and the things we won’t.”
John David Brown started Holmes County High School in 2006, the same year the HCHS Drama Department began.
“His four years spent with Ricky Ward in the drama program sparked a love of theatre that would last a lifetime,” the news release said.
After graduating, he studied Creative Writing at the University of West Florida and now works as a copywriter in the Atlanta area.
“However, he has continued to pursue his passion for theatre as a playwright,” the news release said. “In the past year, his plays have been produced in New York City, the UK, and throughout the US.”
Doors will open at 6:30. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door.
