Incumbent Larry Cook and challenger Jason Powell are the two candidates running for the Bonifay Mayor seat in the upcoming Bonifay City Council election.
Election Day is Tuesday, March 26, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the temporary City Hall location, 401 McLaughlin Ave.
Absentee ballots may be picked up and dropped off ahead of Election Day from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Thursday, March 21; Friday, March 22; and Monday, March 25.
“Ballot intake box will be delivered to City Hall on March 21 at 7:30 a.m.,” a City Election Information announcement said. “The public and candidates can view the intake box and ensure the sealing and locking of it.”
Any elector may designate in writing a person to pick up the ballot for the elector, according to City guidelines.
“However, the person designated may not pick up more than two absentee ballots per election,” the announcement said. “Additional ballots may be picked up for family members of the designee’s immediate family. For purposes of this section, ‘Immediate family’ means the designee’s spouse, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling.”
All ballots must be submitted prior to 7 p.m. on March 26.
Seats 1, 2, and 4 were unopposed. Eddie Dixon, James Sellers, and Rick Crews are the incumbents in those positions.
