On December 5, a deputy with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) made two arrests following a proactive patrol near a local motel. The deputy noticed a suspicious white Toyota Camry with two occupants and an Alabama license plate parked behind the establishment.
After the vehicle left the area and turned onto Son-In-Law Road, the deputy ran the license plate, discovering it was registered to a Lexus. Continuing surveillance, the deputy located the car exiting Youpon Drive, a dead-end subdivision, and later observed it turning onto Pineview Drive, another dead-end subdivision. By this time, the vehicle displayed a Georgia license plate registered as a rental car.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop, identifying the driver as Kirby Reddick of Birmingham, Alabama, and the passenger as Shelton Reddick, also of Birmingham, who was found lying in the back seat. A background check revealed that Kirby had a suspended driver’s license and an active warrant out of Alabama, while Shelton was wanted for burglary in Washington County, Florida.
A search of the vehicle uncovered gloves and a ski mask in the area where Shelton had been lying. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail. They now face charges for their outstanding warrants, as well as loitering and prowling. Kirby also faces charges for driving with a suspended license.
Sheriff John Tate praised the deputy’s vigilance, stating that their attention to detail led to the apprehension of two fugitives and helped prevent further potential crimes in the community.
