Arrest made in smoke shop burglary; investigation ongoing

Francis Weeks

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one individual in connection with a recent burglary at a local business, with additional arrests anticipated as the investigation continues.

Deputies responded to a reported burglary at the Smoke Shop in Esto on May 24. Following the initial response, investigators obtained surveillance footage that helped identify a vehicle connected to the crime.

Further investigation led authorities to Francis Weeks, who was already in custody at the Holmes County Jail on unrelated charges. During an interview with investigators, Weeks admitted to being at the scene during the time of the burglary. However, portions of his account were inconsistent with evidence gathered from the surveillance video.

Based on the findings, warrants were issued charging Weeks with burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief.

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office reports that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
