Multi-Agency pursuit leads to arrest of wanted felon in Holmes County

NATHAN BUXTON

A coordinated response between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a wanted felon following a high-speed pursuit that ended in Bonifay on June 4, 2025.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), deputies were alerted that Walton County authorities were actively pursuing a stolen vehicle heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 90. HCSO deputies joined and took over the pursuit in the Westville area as the suspect continued traveling east.

The pursuit proceeded through Caryville, where HCSO units attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver. Although the suspect was able to temporarily regain control of the vehicle, the chase continued into Bonifay.

Once the suspect entered the four-lane section of Highway 90, officers with the Bonifay Police Department executed a successful P.I.T. maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop. The driver, identified as Nathan Buxton, was taken into custody without further incident.

A subsequent investigation confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Camden, Alabama. Authorities also discovered that Buxton had multiple outstanding warrants in Alabama. In addition to those charges, Buxton now faces the following charges in Holmes County:

  • Fleeing and Attempting to Elude
  • Reckless Driving
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon
  • Resisting Arrest Without Violence

The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged and thanked the Bonifay Police Department for its assistance in safely concluding the incident.
