According to a press release from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff John Tate traveled to the Florida Capitol to participate in the annual Sheriffs’ Day event. While in Tallahassee, Sheriff Tate met with Governor Ron DeSantis, members of the Florida Legislature, and the state’s new attorney general.
Sheriffs’ Day provides an opportunity for law enforcement leaders from across the state to engage directly with lawmakers on issues related to public safety. During his meetings, Sheriff Tate addressed topics relevant to Holmes County, including the need for funding to expand the county jail, enhancements to emergency services, and strategies to address drug-related crime.
Sheriff Tate also met with additional state officials to emphasize the importance of legislative support for rural law enforcement agencies.
“It was an honor to meet with our state leaders to discuss the needs of Holmes County,” said Sheriff Tate. “This event allows us to advocate for our community and ensure that rural law enforcement agencies receive the support necessary to protect and serve our residents effectively.”
