NEW HOPE – On August 15, a Holmes County SheriffÂ’s Office deputy responded to Tommy Lane in the New Hope community in reference to a stolen UTV.
A suspect was quickly developed as the deputy canvassed the neighborhood. A witness stated to the deputy that Dakota Griffin was seen driving a UTV not far from where one was stolen.
Deputies located Griffin at a residence on Highway 179A later in the evening where he was taken into custody on outstanding warrants.
According to HCSO, Griffin confessed to stealing the side by side and stated to deputies that the UTV was stuck in the woods just across the state line in Alabama.
The UTV was located and returned to the owners.
Griffin is charged with burglary, grand theft, and outstanding warrants.
