One man has been arrested following a felony theft at a local business. Bonifay Police Dept. released details on August 22.
The suspect was observed via store video surveillance putting merchandise in his waistband and taking the items to a white BMW SUV parked within the store parking lot. Further review of the video surveillance was able to identify the vehicle as having a Georgia license plate.
On August 21, 2024, at 2:45pm, BPD and the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office received information revealing the suspect, later identified as Johnny M. Brown, had returned to the store. When confronted by staff members, Brown fled the store driving his white BMW SUV traveling East on Highway 90. HCSO Dispatch was able to notify surrounding agencies which allowed Washington County Sheriff’s Office to locate and stop the suspect vehicle just west of Chipley. Upon the Bonifay Police and Holmes County Sheriff’s Office arriving, they identified the vehicle and its driver Johnny M. Brown as being involved in the thefts from Panhandle Lumber.
