On Tuesday evening, officers from the Defuniak Springs Police Department responded to a report of a physical disturbance. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a male victim with a significant laceration on the back of his neck. Witnesses at the scene, along with the victim, stated that the injury resulted from an attack involving a hatchet.
According to official reports, the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Evan Stockdale, had left the scene before officers arrived. Following an investigation and interviews, Defuniak Springs Police Department contacted Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and HCSO located and arrested Stockdale at his residence in Holmes County. He was subsequently charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Robbery with a Weapon.
