Holmes County High School added more accolades to its athletic program as Holmes County High School Senior Caidon Carroll secured the state championship in the 199-pound Traditional weightlifting division at the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Boys Weightlifting State Championships.
Carroll competed in both the Traditional and Olympic disciplines during the event. In the Traditional division, he recorded a bench press of 315 pounds and a clean and jerk of 315 pounds, for a combined total of 630 pounds—earning him the state title in his weight class. In the Olympic division, Carroll finished as state runner-up, further demonstrating his strength and versatility as a competitor.
According to Head Coach Kevin Womble, Carroll’s performance reflects his dedication to the sport. “Caidon worked extremely hard to put himself in a position to win a state title and then went out and did it,” Womble stated. “He is a testament to how hard work and dedication can pay off.”
Coach Womble also emphasized Carroll’s character, noting that a competition judge praised him for his respectful and courteous behavior throughout the event. “For as great of a lifter as he is, he’s an even better young man,” Womble said. “It’s been great to be one of his coaches, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.”
