Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a State of Emergency for Holmes County in response to the severe tornado that struck the region on Saturday, May 10.
The declaration, confirmed by state legislative officials, will facilitate access to state resources and funding, expediting recovery efforts and aiding with debris cleanup on private property. The measure is expected to enhance the capabilities of local response teams as they continue working to assist affected residents.
County officials are scheduled to meet this afternoon to establish a coordinated plan of action. Residents are asked to remain patient as the recovery process begins.
Utility crews are also actively working to restore power throughout the county. Despite ongoing rain and difficult conditions, dozens of linemen remain in the field to safely return service to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.
More information regarding state assistance programs and recovery efforts is expected following the county’s planning meeting.
