A Bonifay family physician has been recognized by Florida State University College of Medicine for his service and dedication to rural health care.
Dr. Patrick Hawkins received the “Mission Model Award” during a ceremony held September 8. The award reflects the college’s mission to address the critical need for physicians in rural and underserved communities, particularly in Northwest Florida. Recipients are selected for exemplifying patient-centered, evidence-based care and are nominated by medical students who complete clinical rotations in their practices. Final selections are made by faculty and associates of the medical school.
In addition to operating his family practice in Bonifay, Dr. Hawkins serves on the faculty of FSU’s College of Medicine and hosts a medical student each summer.
