An early morning execution of a search warrant lands two Holmes County residents behind bars for trafficking methamphetamine.
On Friday, Jan. 7, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at 2084 Tobe Retherford Road. When deputies arrived on scene contact was made with the owner of the residence Johnny Shelton and a female Courtney Hatfill.
HCSO secured both occupants and began to search the residence. Investigators found over two ounces of methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl and a large amount of U.S. currency.
A search of the property led to the discovery of numerous stolen items found in the woods and in various places on the property. Those items included boats, four wheelers, a tractor, an enclosed trailer, and power tools.
According to HCSO, Shelton stated that all the drugs were his and the stolen items were things that had been traded for drugs.
Shelton is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of fentanyl, possession of marijuana, possession of Alprazolam, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hatfill was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Geneva County, Alabama.
The case is still under investigation dealing with the stolen property. HCSO expects additional charges and arrests in the case.
