Aubrey Ammons, 80, of Ponce De Leon, was arrested on July 23 by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) on 10 felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.
The investigation commenced on May 15 when FDLE received multiple cyber-tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), alerting agents to a user who had uploaded files depicting the sexual abuse of children. Ammons was identified as the user in question.
On July 23, agents executed a search warrant at Ammons’s residence and seized several electronic devices. A preliminary forensic examination revealed numerous files depicting the sexual abuse of children.
The investigation is being conducted by FDLE’s Panama City Field Office and FDLE’s Pensacola Regional Operations Center, with assistance from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrest.
Ammons has been booked into the Holmes County Jail. Additional charges may be filed pending completion of forensic examinations. The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 14th Judicial Circuit.
