A new fitness facility, Fitness United, is set to open its doors at 708 US-90 W, beside the Bonifay Dance Center. Owned by Garrett Cook and Grant Peters, with the support of Peters’ girlfriend, Madelynn McClain, the gym aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for fitness enthusiasts of all levels.
The facility boasts a range of amenities, including a sauna, a hydro massage bed, and a fully custom-built cold plunge enclosure, maintained at 42–45 degrees. Fitness United also features an exclusive women-only 650 sq. ft. workout room, high-energy COED functional exercise classes, and a diverse selection of equipment, including recumbent bikes, high-end commercial machines, and free weights up to 150 pounds.
“We’re not just a gym for bodybuilders and ‘meatheads,'” said Peters. “This is a health-focused facility aimed at improving our community. Whether you’re dealing with physical disabilities or the challenges of aging, we want everyone to feel welcome.”
The gym will operate 24/7 and plans to eventually offer tanning services. Membership options include family and couple packages, along with a Heroes Discount to support local emergency responders. “We want to incentivize families to get fit and healthy together,” added Cook.
Fitness United’s community-centered vision is deeply personal for the owners, who both grew up in Holmes County. “This is about giving back to the area that shaped us,” they shared.
The grand opening is expected in the next two weeks, and Fitness United aims to become a hub for health, wellness, and connection in Bonifay.
