Pursuit in Holmes County ends in arrest

Tyler Hutto

On Wednesday, January 14, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a residence on Highway 2 where an individual reported that Tyler Hutto had stolen his vehicle and trailer.

Approximately 30 minutes later, a deputy spotted the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 2 and attempted a traffic stop. During the attempt, the suspect vehicle struck the deputy’s patrol vehicle, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued west on Highway 2 at speeds exceeding 130 mph. Just west of Highway 177-A, a rear tire on the suspect vehicle blew out, causing it to slow enough for deputies to perform a PIT maneuver, forcing the vehicle off the roadway.

After the vehicle came to a stop, Hutto resisted arrest and was tased before being taken into custody.

During the pursuit, Hutto was observed throwing suspected narcotics from the vehicle.

Hutto had been released from prison approximately 72 hours prior to this incident. He currently faces charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, aggravated assault with a vehicle, grand theft auto, driving while license suspended, resisting arrest without violence, and violation of probation.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
