Stolen vehicle recovered during traffic stop

Miller, John Clark, Corey

A stolen vehicle was recovered following a traffic stop conducted by a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy on December 26, 2024. The stop occurred on Highway 2 and involved a vehicle towing another vehicle, both of which were in violation of traffic regulations.

According to the HCSO, the driver of the vehicle, identified as John Miller of DeFuniak Springs, acknowledged that he had deliberately attached an incorrect license plate to the vehicle he was operating. A passenger, Cory Clark, also of DeFuniak Springs, claimed ownership of the towed vehicle. Clark stated he had purchased the vehicle for $1,500 from a woman but was unable to provide a bill of sale or title to verify the purchase.

During the investigation, the deputy ran the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the towed vehicle, which was confirmed as stolen by the Opp Police Department in Opp, Alabama.

Following this confirmation, both individuals were taken into custody. Miller faces charges of Attaching a Tag Not Assigned, while Clark has been charged with Grand Theft.
