Alabama man arrested for alleged methamphetamine sale in Holmes County

A man from Alabama was arrested in Holmes County after allegedly selling methamphetamine to an undercover law enforcement officer.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Derek Deaver traveled to Esto, Florida, on March 14, 2025, to conduct a drug transaction. Authorities say Deaver contacted an individual to arrange a sale, unaware that he was communicating with an undercover deputy.

Law enforcement officials arranged a meeting at a local business where Deaver allegedly completed the transaction. Shortly after, he was taken into custody by deputies.

Deaver, a registered sex offender currently on probation in Alabama, was charged with selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a church and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
