The City of Bonifay has officially proclaimed March 20 as Red Cross Day, recognizing the humanitarian efforts of the American Red Cross. The proclamation, made by city officials, encourages residents to support the organization’s mission and volunteer efforts.
A Red Cross representative expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the critical role of volunteers, who make up 90% of the organization’s workforce. He highlighted the need for local volunteers to assist in disaster relief efforts, particularly in response to house fires and other emergencies.
City officials acknowledged the Red Cross’s invaluable work, not only during major disasters but also in providing immediate support for local families in crisis. Efforts will continue to recruit more volunteers to strengthen disaster response within the Tri-County area.
Residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to reach out to the Red Cross to make a difference in their community.
