Holmes County deputies thwart vehicle fleeing hit and run

A 19-year-old Tallahassee woman, fleeing a hit-and-run accident in Alabama, was apprehended early Friday evening after being pursued by Holmes County sheriff’s deputies.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the Hartford, Alabama Police Department notified the office that they were in pursuit of a silver Lexus headed southbound towards Holmes County. The chase had been initiated in Enterprise, Alabama, following the vehicle’s involvement in a hit and run there.

Holmes County sheriff’s deputies, who joined the pursuit around Hoover Mill Rd. and Hwy 79, set up spike strips just north of the intersection of Hwy 173 and 79.

The release said the Lexus slammed on its brakes as it approached the strips, and then went off the road, through the Express Lane parking lot, and continued north onto Hwy 173. As it attempted to turn onto Hubbard St., the vehicle, with two children in the backseat, was forced off the road into the ditch.

The driver, Armani Brown of Tallahassee, was taken into custody. She is charged with aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving without a valid drivers license, and two counts of child endangerment.
