The Bonifay City Council welcomed Eddie Dixon onto their board on Monday, Dec. 11.
The City Council unanimously approved adding on Dixon to fill a vacancy.
“I appreciate the opportunity,” Dixon said. “I’m native to Holmes County. I love Holmes County. I’ve lived in Bonifay for about 20 years now. I love this town. It’s a great town full of great people and I hope to be able to help people.”
Dixon was the superintendent for the Holmes District School Board from November 2012 through November 2016. He also has experience working with the State Legislature and Department of Education, which he hopes to use to assist Bonifay.
In his application, Dixon said he wants to see “Bonifay and all its citizens prosper.”
“I believe my experience in leadership across my career would be beneficial to the Bonifay City Council,” Dixon said.
Dixon lives on Holmes Avenue. Councilmember Rick Crews made the motion to appoint Dixon.
“I appreciate the willingness to serve,” Mayor Larry Cook said.
Five people in total applied for the vacant position. The other applicants were Jason Powell, Shirley Mitchell, Charles Flowers, and Roger Brooks.
