CAROL KENT
HOLMES COUNTY – A local man was taken into custody in the Prosperity community Thursday, Dec. 28, in connection to the 2004 murder of an 8-year-old Rochester, New York girl.
Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Caribbean Task Force and detectives from Rochester, New York Police Department, arrested 63-year-old Timothy Kuhn at his Griffin Circle residence without incident.
According to law enforcement reports, Kuhn was a fugitive wanted on charges related to the February 28, 2004 death of Savannah Streber in Rochester, New York.
Streber was reportedly asleep in her bed when the fire broke out around midnight.
Officials determined the fire, which was survived by the babysitter, was intentionally set after discovering what they believed to be the remnants of a Molotov cocktail that had been thrown through the back of the home.
While investigators have yet to identify a motive in the case, investigators stated in an interview with Dateline that they believed the child’s mother was the intended target.
Kuhn is currently in custody at the Holmes County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to New York.
