A request for proposals (RFP) will go out to see what bids Holmes County gets for potential timber clearing at the Project Gateway site.
The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved putting out a RFP to get bids on possibly clearing lumber during a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The BOCC is looking for three price quotes.
County Commissioner Brandon Newsom has expressed a desire to get timber cleared at the site, which will include a new Busy Bee location.
Project Gateway is a joint venture between the County and Holmes County Development Commission, which is a separate agency tasked with stimulating economic activity in the area. Along with the new Busy Bee location at the southwest corner of Interstate-10, Project Gateway is also intended to include separate hotel and retail space.
