Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire at the old shirt factory late Friday night, May 31, going into the early morning.
“Crews were faced with heavy smoke and zero visibility inside the building,” PDL Volunteer Fire and Rescue said in a Facebook post. “Thanks to the sprinkler system, the fire was contained and kept small until firefighters were able to fully extinguish the fire.”
No injuries were reported.
“We would like to thank Walton County Fire Rescue, Engine 8, Tanker 8, Engine 2, Truck 12, Battalion Chief 1 & 2, Pine Log VFD and Westville VFD for assisting us with this fire,” PDL Volunteer Fire and Rescue said. “We also would like to thank HCEMS for standing by during the fire.
