K-9 Colt, a working dog with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, has successfully advanced through the first round of Florida’s annual K9 March Madness Tournament and now needs public support to make it into the third round.
The bracket-style contest, organized by the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA), features law enforcement K-9s from across the state in a friendly competition designed to highlight the diverse and critical roles these dogs play in public safety.
From tracking missing persons and locating evidence to providing comfort in schools, each participating K-9 has a unique story and set of skills. K-9 Colt is no exception, serving as an active and valued member of the Holmes County team.
To advance, K-9 Colt must receive enough online votes from supporters by 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, March 25. Voting is limited to one vote per person per day.
Participants can vote by visiting the official tournament link: https://woobox.com/34tboi, selecting a K-9 in each matchup, and completing a brief verification process to confirm they are not a robot.
Throughout the competition, the Florida Sheriffs Association will provide updates on social media via Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, highlighting current standings and encouraging voter engagement.
While the competition is lighthearted in nature, it serves to recognize the daily commitment of K-9 teams throughout Florida. These dogs are trained in specialized fields such as detection, tracking, apprehension, and emotional support, and they play a vital role in the law enforcement community.
Community members are encouraged to cast their votes daily and help shine a spotlight on the work of K-9 Colt and other dedicated four-legged deputies across the state.
