Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies arrested two individuals from Washington County on charges of burglary. The arrests occurred during routine patrols on Highway 173 South when deputies noticed a white SUV exiting an abandoned house and property.
Upon spotting the deputies, the SUV accelerated northward, prompting the deputies to activate their blue lights in an effort to initiate a traffic stop. Despite this, the vehicle continued to flee. Eventually, the SUV pulled over, and the occupants were identified as Gary Wayne Corbin, the driver, and Haley Burnham, the passenger. Both individuals were promptly detained.
During subsequent questioning, Corbin and Burnham admitted to trespassing on the property with the intent to steal items. They further confessed to having visited the location multiple times for similar purposes. Additionally, they acknowledged their involvement in numerous burglaries and thefts across various locations within Washington County.
As a result of their actions, both Corbin and Burnham were arrested and now face charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools. Furthermore, Corbin is facing additional charges, including fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, as well as reckless driving.
