On July 26, 2024, a routine traffic stop conducted by a deputy from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) resulted in the arrest of a passenger with an outstanding warrant and the discovery of illegal drugs.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 173, where the deputy pulled over a van for a standard check. Among the passengers was Joseph Haddock, who was found to have an outstanding warrant from Washington County. Haddock was immediately taken into custody and transported to the county jail for booking.
During the booking process, alert jail staff noticed a baggie on the floor that raised suspicion. They quickly contacted the deputy in charge, who reviewed security footage to determine its origin. The video revealed that Haddock had dropped the baggie, which was later confirmed to contain methamphetamine. The footage further showed Haddock attempting to conceal the baggie by stepping on it and sliding it towards the holding cell area, though his efforts were unsuccessful.
As a result of these findings, Haddock was not only booked on the outstanding warrant but also faced new charges of possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility.
Joseph Haddock remains in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
