A Holmes County man is facing an animal cruelty charge following a disturbance that led deputies to the Carmichael Road area, according to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the residence after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they spoke with a female complainant who stated she and her boyfriend, identified as Devon Ellis, had been involved in a verbal dispute. During the incident, Ellis allegedly threatened to kill her dogs if she left the residence.
A short time later, deputies located Ellis walking nearby. At the same location, they also discovered a deceased dog. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ellis admitted to killing the animal.
Devon Ellis was taken into custody and booked on one charge of Animal Cruelty.
