The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office recently organized an active shooter training session, engaging its deputies, the Bonifay Police Department, and the guardians from the local school district.
Sheriff John Tate highlighted the significance of the training, remarking, “This training is a crucial part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our law enforcement and educational institutions.” He further added, “We hope we never have an incident where this training has to be utilized, but we always want to be ready. The safety of our community is our top priority, and this training helps ensure that our officers and school guardians are prepared to respond effectively in any situation.”
The training encompassed various scenarios and response strategies, providing participants with practical, hands-on experience. It reinforced the importance of coordination and swift decision-making in critical situations. Sheriff Tate emphasized the collaborative effort, stating, “By collaborating with the Bonifay Police Department and the school district’s guardians, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office aims to foster a unified approach to emergency response.”
