Man flees HCSO, search underway

HOLMES COUNTY – The Holmes County SheriffÂ’s Office is currently searching for a man after receiving multiple calls on August 10 regarding a white male in the Express Lane parking lot in Esto acting erratically. 

An HCSO deputy made contact with the suspect who was identified as Colby S. Grant. A check revealed Grant had non extraditable warrants out of Georgia and that he is currently on house arrest in Holmes County. 

As the deputy attempted to detain Grant, he fled southwest on Highway 2, on foot into the woods. 

Holmes and Walton K-9 teams responded and began tracking the suspect to an area full of ponds and wetlands, where the track was lost and they were unable to reestablish the track. 

Sheriff John Tate says HCSO has obtained for Grant for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and violation of state probation.
