I am a 1990 graduate of Holmes County High School. I also attended Chipola Junior College for a year and a half. I left college to grow and elevate our family business to the prominent standard where we operate today.
I have been actively involved in the community for most of my life, and I am devoted to progress within our city. At the age of 21, I joined the Bonifay Fire and Rescue. I served numerous years as a volunteer and have held the positions of assistant fire chief and fire chief during my tenure. During my time as fire chief, I initiated the process of getting our volunteers Fire I certified, a program that has continued to be implemented to date.
Additionally, I have held the position of the Young Farmer and Rancher President, and I have served on the Holmes County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. I have been an avid participant at the Bonifay City Council meetings and Charter Review Committee meetings.
As a member of the Bonifay City Council, my objective is to introduce a professional and business mindset back into city business. I aim to assist in creating a budget to reduce wasteful spending and avoid new imposed taxes to compensate for careless expenditures.
Furthermore, it is my goal to effectively work alongside other county government agencies such as the Holmes County Board of County Commissioners, Tourist Development Council, Chamber of Commerce and the Holmes County Development Commission to facilitate an effective strategy to assure positive growth to Bonifay.
A cleaner Bonifay is necessary, from the streets to the city government. I would appreciate your support and vote on March 28.
Thank you,
Jason Powell
