The Sheriff’s Star published by the Florida Sheriffs Association honored the Tate family and their generational years of service to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Tate’s father, Retired Sgt. David Tate began his service to HCSO in 1986, retiring in 2023 after 37 years with the office. The current county Sheriff, John Tate began his career at the age of 21 in 1999. Throughout his years with the office Tate has held numerous positions, leading him to become Sheriff and serve the last two terms. Tate has also made history in Holmes County, becoming the first Sheriff to run unopposed for an upcoming election.

Between his father and grandfather, the next generation of Tate’s decided to follow in their footsteps. Sheriff Tate’s oldest son Aydan, decided to start his career in law enforcement in 2022 with Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“The Tate family’s story is one of legacy, commitment and the enduring bonds of family. Their shared dedication to law enforcement not only serves as an inspiration to their community but also highlights the profound impact of leading by example. The Tate legacy continues to thrive, embodying the values of service, integrity and family pride.” said The Sheriff’s Star.
