Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue acquires donated ladder truck

Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue has added a 105-foot ladder truck to its fleet, donated by the Norwood Fire Company in Pennsylvania. According to the department, the truck was secured through the efforts of Lt. Jeff Jackson and Support Firefighter Greg Schackow, who traveled to retrieve and transport the apparatus.

Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue has announced the addition of a 105-foot ladder truck to its fleet. The truck was donated by the Norwood Fire Company in Pennsylvania.

According to the department, the acquisition was made possible through the efforts of Lt. Jeff Jackson, who coordinated the donation process. In a statement, the department credited Lt. Jackson’s involvement as instrumental in securing the vehicle.

“The addition of this ladder truck will enhance our response capabilities and support our mission to serve the community more effectively,” the department stated.

Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue also acknowledged Support Firefighter Greg Schackow, who traveled with Lt. Jackson to Pennsylvania to retrieve the apparatus. The department noted that both individuals were responsible for the transportation and delivery of the truck back to Florida.

“This donation represents a significant step forward for our department,” the statement continued. “We thank Lt. Jackson and FF Schackow for their dedication in making this possible.”

The department reported that the ladder truck will be placed into service following inspection and any necessary preparations.
