Two men led Holmes County Sheriff’s Office on a pursuit after an attempted traffic stop was initiated on February 26.
A red Toyota, driven by Ethan Hudspeth, was traveling on Highway 181 west of Highway 81 when a traffic infraction prompted HCSO to initiate a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to stop which initiated a pursuit,
The pursuit continued west where the vehicle crossed over Highway 185 and continued west toward Darlington. At the intersection of Highway 181 and Highway 2 the vehicle failed to negotiate a turn, left the roadway and overturned.
Hudspeth was quickly taken into custody, the passenger later identified as Kandan Miller, fled on foot. A passerby stopped and gave HCSO Miller’s location and he too, was quickly taken into custody.
According to HCSO, Miller told deputies that he ingested a large quantity of narcotics. EMS responded and transported Miller to the hospital.
Hudspeth was transported to the Walton County Jail and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an office without violence.
Miller will be charged with resisting an officer without violence and possession of marijuana.
