A Ponce de Leon man was arrested after fleeing from a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Interstate 10 yesterday.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a traffic infraction at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Hwy 81.
The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit continued south onto Hwy 81, then to I-10 heading west, reaching speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.
Additional deputies joined the pursuit and were able to assist in surrounding the suspect vehicle. The suspect
continued heading west, passing multiple vehicles in the emergency lane and attempting to pass a deputy by
driving in the median.
While merging back onto the roadway from the median, the vehicle spun out of control and came to rest facing east.
The driver, identified as Nathan Clark of Ponce de Leon, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. A
driver’s license check revealed Clark’s license was suspended.
Clark is charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and driving while license suspended.
