Friday evening, the Bonifay Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in a single vehicle crash when the fleeing vehicle left the roadway and struck a loading dock at the former Holmes County Ag Supply building.
The pursuing officer was trying to initiate a traffic stop for excessive speed of 67 mph in a 45 mph zone.
The suspect – Michael Crosslin Volger, 21, of Smyrna, Tennessee – had a fully loaded Glock pistol in his hand when Bonifay Fire Rescue began extrication procedures.
Vogler was life flighted due to the extent of his injuries sustained in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol was contacted to investigate the crash.
The Bonifay Police Department will be obtaining warrants for Vogler for fleeing and/or attempting to elude, willful and wanton reckless driving, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
