A Westville man is behind bars after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine.
When deputies stopped the vehicle, K-9 Lasso conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. As Doughtie was asked to exit the vehicle he appeared nervous and kept putting his hand in his pocket, according to an HCSO release.
Doughtie ignored several commands to keep his hands out of his pockets and was restrained while a search of his person was conducted. The search revealed a cut straw and methamphetamine. Doughtie was placed in the patrol vehicle and according to HCSO, he was yelling and hitting the partition inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle found another cut straw in the driver’s side door.
Doughtie is charged with possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest without violence and possession of paraphernalia.
