Alabama man behind bars after pursuit

An Alabama man is behind bars when the combined efforts of Bonifay Police Department (BPD) and Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) were able to apprehend him after a chase.

BPD was in pursuit of a vehicle heading north on Highway 173 and sent an HCSO deputy notification of the chase. The  deputy was able to set up spike strips at the entrance to Poplar Springs School which slowed the suspect vehicle.

The driver was identified as Charles Nicholas McNeil of Hartford, Alabama. McNeil continued north on Highway 173 where he swerved off the road and into a yard just north of Highway 2, according to a release from HCSO. McNeil fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies.

McNeil was turned over to BPD. He was arrested on active warrants out of Bay County and was driving a stolen vehicle during this incident.
