One dead in late afternoon crash

A Bonifay woman was killed in a head-on collision in the late afternoon of May 24.

A Florida Highway Patrol release states troopers responded to Highway 173 south of Budfield Road at the scene of a head on collision.

At the scene a 2019 Honda CRV that was being driven by a 16-year-old male from Bonifay, was on the south bound shoulder rolled onto the driver’s side and a 2017 Nissan Sentra being driven by a 26-year-old woman from Bonifay in the ditch on the northbound shoulder.

FHP says the woman succumbed to her injuries on scene. A four-year-old passenger in the Nissan Sentra and the 16-year-old driver of the Honda CRV were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

There is no further information at this time as the crash is still under investigation.
