Pedestrian struck by vehicle after Friday night football game

The Bonifay Police Department, Bonifay Fire-Rescue, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, and Holmes County EMS responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash following the HCHS football game on August 16. The incident occurred at the intersection of State Road 79 and Veterans Boulevard.

The pedestrian was struck by a 2017 Nissan Frontier traveling north on State Road 79 (Waukesha Street) while crossing the roadway. The pedestrian was airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for further treatment and observation.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Bonifay Police Department.

“We extend our gratitude to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Bonifay Fire-Rescue, and Holmes County EMS for their prompt and dedicated response. Their commitment to the community is truly commendable,” said Chief Johnny Whitaker.

Chief Whitaker would also like to remind the public to exercise extra caution in this area following football games due to increased pedestrian traffic.
