Asheville residents seek hope after Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene leaves historic North Carolina in crisis. [CONTRIBUTED]

After Hurricane Helene’s devastation in western North Carolina, residents were left stranded by washed-out roads. With no power or cellular service, people lined up for water and waited days after the storm to let their loved ones know they were safe.

In Asheville, a base of operations and satellites have been set for the Asheville Dream Center at the location of Revol Church. They are constantly giving food, water, formula, diapers, and more supplies. Special equipment operators have rescued many from homes that are inhabitable with no road left for transportation. “I was informed yesterday of a man that was on the verge of dying but our team managed to reach him just in time to supply him with what he needed; it saved his life,” said Holmes County native and worship leader Jayme Bryan.

Jagged Edge Hair Design in Bonifay is taking donations from the public to fill a truck. For the storm victims several items are needed such as:

  • Hygiene items
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Batteries
  • Water,
  • Baby food
  • Flashlights,
  • First aid kits,
  • Blankets,
  • Radios,
  • Paper products,
  • Sleeping Bags,
  • Propane Stoves.

Jagged Edge Hair Design is located at 201 South Waukesha Street in Bonifay. Donation questions or more information can be directed to Steve Bryan or Sheriff John Tate.

“This is a time to really see others through the eyes of Christ, living a life beyond ourselves to meet the tangible needs of others that ultimately touch the heart and give hope for a better tomorrow,” added Bryan.
