The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) recently hosted its annual Junior Deputy Camp, giving local youth a hands‑on look at careers in public safety and emergency response.
Over the three‑day program, campers explored law enforcement, emergency services, and teamwork through interactive demonstrations and field experiences. Participants met officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), including a baby alligator guest, along with Holmes County EMS, the Florida Department of Corrections K‑9 team, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew.
Campers also learned from HCSO’s gun detection and narcotics K‑9s, received a visit from the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, and toured Holmes County Emergency Management, the Communications Center, and the HCSO evidence bay.
