Holmes County Fire Rescue recently announced that the Ponce de Leon Fire Department will officially join the county’s fire rescue system following a unanimous vote by the Ponce de Leon Town Council on Thursday, July 16.
Sheriff John Tate and Fire Chief Jeff McVay attended the council’s meeting Thursday night to discuss the proposed partnership and answer questions from council members. After the discussion, the council voted to become part of Holmes County Fire Rescue.
According to the agency, the partnership represents a continued effort to strengthen fire protection and emergency response through regional cooperation. Officials say the collaboration will support improvements in training, resources, equipment, and service for residents.
Holmes County Fire Rescue expressed appreciation to the Ponce de Leon Town Council for its support and noted it looks forward to working alongside the firefighters of the Ponce de Leon Fire Department.
